Jakob Adolf Hägg was one of the foremost exponents of the Leipzig romanticism in Swedish music, whose output was vast, but is now unfortunately largely forgotten. His piano music is often quite Schumannesque in its frequent use of harmonic and rhythmic peculiarities as well as a penchant for polyphony, and can at times be quite demanding for the performer, with a "difficult" writing.
