Mozart Sonatas and Variations for Piano Duet
Mozart has made an important contribution to the repertoire for piano duet with his sonatas and the variations on an original theme in G major. Two of the sonatas, in D major and B-flat major, are early works, but already carry all the trademarks of Mozart´s genious, being very popular among musicians at all levels of proficiency, whilst the later works, most notably the F major sonata, are grand-scale compositions of nearly symphonic stature, rich in virtuosic elements as well as counterpoint, also presenting some interesting pianistic challenges rarely found elsewhere in his compositions.
