Krutila Pila
This record is full of surprises. Iva Nova “spun and cut” 12 tracks rather different but still united by the new, ambiguous and bold sound.
It’s still impossible to tag the electrified creative impulse of the Iva Nova. These maidens are still experimenting in punkish no-shame provocative mixing of ethnic, electronic and rock’n’roll sounds.
This time music experiment was produced by Austrian sound engineer and musician Richard Deutsch known for his work with “Metamorphosis”. In search for the new sound together they touched the boundaries of possible and impossible. For example, on one of the tracks (“To the road”) all girls had to sing because the song did not feel complete. Also they invited Albert Kuvezin who contributed his unique throat singing technique to the track “Factory 76”.
Besides their own lyrics and in search for inspiration the band used futuristic poetry (song “Crested Larks” lyrics by Vasilisk Gnedov) and the song “Salome” based on a text by actor, director and choreographer Oleg Zhukovsky (theater “La Pushkin”). Also a rather unusual song, which was performed live only once on 01.01.2014, and since then has been remade and reborn, has made it to the record under name “Waltz of the deaf under the bridges”. The record was made with participation of many musicianfriends of the Iva Nova from different countries. The result of this mischief can be heard – just put the record on!
