Under the charm of its inherent delicacy, French composers from the end of the nineteenth century found in the harp the ideal instrument for expressing grace, mystery and fluidity. The invention of the double-action pedal movement provided them with enhanced coloration in their writing, offering the possibiity of modulationg into a variety of hitherto inaccessible keys. The subtle harmonies and divine melodies so typical of French art were to engender a universe in sound with an identity all its own, including
during the Great War, witness the present set of works, some forgotten, brought together here for the first time.
